About the Film

Soul's Ember is a film created during the pandemic, created with the convenience of using elements readily available and obtainable for a cast of only two people. My beautiful girlfriend Maria Nzivo and I, Emilio Miranda, collaborated to create an atmosphere of silent chaos. A strangely intense calmness fills the film by sending our main characters deeper and deeper into desperation and secrets. Notable inspirations from this project include the work of Gaspar Noe's "Enter the Void", Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining", and last but not least the masterpiece of "Requiem for a Dream" by Darren Aronofsky. I have paid homage to these great films in subtle but impactful ways, which blend with my vision for the film to create an overwhelming sense of insanity that the audience can feel. The film's plot will remain unknown until experiencing it first hand. This allows for the story to develop with more impact. Neither Maria or I are actors, although we try our best. We hope you enjoy the hard work we put into this film and look forward to sharing future work with you.
